Yes. If you are planning on going out on the water, every person must have a properly fitted PDF, that you must bring with you.

Every cottage that has canoe, kayak, paddle boat, paddle board, etc. will need to carry an emergency kit whenever on the water. This will be provided by cottage owners.

Your cottage will have a “manual” specific to it. Please review the information within. Complete an inspection of the cottage and property. While we have done this prior to your arrival, if you notice any damage, needed repairs, etc., you must provide this information to Haliburton Cottage Rentals within 24 hours. If the property is not as clean as anticipated, call us immediately. We have housekeepers on standby who can come and rectify the situation.

Definition of maximum capacity:

Maximum capacity is defined by the available bedding and will have been clearly outlined in the cottage description you will receive. Overcrowding is grounds for eviction. Please also note that maximum occupancy limits are applicable for the duration of your stay which means parties or gatherings are not permitted. Your Cottage Rental Application Form has a section for you to complete an occupancy list. It is your responsibility to update this list with Haliburton Cottage Rentals if there are changes.

Age limits & forbidden groups:

Occupants are limited to family groups only. NO SORORITIES, FRATERNITIES, WEDDING RECEPTIONS, SPRING BREAK PARTIES, or similar groups.  Misrepresentation is ground for eviction without refund.

Bending policies:

Your Cottage Rental Agreement is a binding legal document. Haliburton Cottage Rentals is bound by provincial and local laws, our contracts with the property owners, and our lease with you. It is your responsibility to read and understand your contract including all policies and regulations.

Confirmation cottage amenities:

Haliburton Cottage Rentals relies on Owners to provide up-to-date information about the cottage you are renting. Occasionally, errors are made. We list the most current information on the property rental listing. Occasionally, amenities or furnishings need to be switched for cleaning, repairs, or replacement. Property photoshoots occur every 3 years or when a major renovation or change occurs. Please note that minor changes or differences in the photos and the property are possible.

Haliburton Cottage Rentals encourages all Owners to provide high-speed internet at their property. In some areas of Haliburton County, top-of-the-line internet service is not available. Please ensure what is listed in your cottage’s description has the Internet service you require.

Many Haliburton Cottage Rentals welcome your dog! Each cottage will have their own pet policy. If you’re interested in bringing your dog(s), please make sure you confirm it with your representative prior to booking! Sometimes there are limits of 2 domestic, housebroken dogs, and they must be registered in advance in the Cottage Rental Application Form. Dogs brought to non-pet cottages are cause for eviction without refund. Other pets (cats, rabbits, snakes, rodents, birds, turtles, etc.,) are not permitted at any time and are cause for eviction without refund.

If a member of your family has pet allergies, speak to a reservationist. Haliburton Cottage Rentals cannot guarantee any home to be allergen-free, but we can investigate the likelihood and help you make the best decision for a rental that’s perfect for you and your family.

Most cottages are not on a town sewer system and use a septic system which means everything that you put down the drain or flush down the toilet ends up in the septic system. Acceptable: kitchen liquids (no food) and human waste. Unacceptable: food of any kind (scraps, sauces, kitchen grease), medications, cigarette butts, dental floss, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, etc.

A 50% deposit upon booking is required, with the balance of the rental fee due 30 days prior check in. There are multiple easy ways to make your deposit: PayPal, credit card (add 3.8% credit card service fee), money order, eTransfer to [email protected] and Direct Deposit.

Renters are not to leave their garbage outside as this could attract wildlife and compromise safety. Renters must properly dispose of all garbage and recycling:
1) at an approved Municipality landfill or transfer station or
2) by taking it home at departure.

If renters do not dispose of their household garbage there will be an additional fee of $85.00
